Stuggling with my naturally slower metabolism as I reached 40!
by Pamela Kent
(Wills Point, tx.)
I am 5'8" tall 135lb 42 year old women. Around my 40th birthday I had to be placed on steroids to battle a genetic skin disorder. In the 3 months that I had to take steroids I went from 130lb to 175lb in what felt like overnight.
I had always had a very high metabolism and never really had to watch what I ate or exercise in order to stay trim, it was just naturally the way I was.
So I was sure that the weight would just drop off after I stopped the steroid.
Imagine my shock when I only lost 10lbs which put me at 165, way heavier than I had ever thought I would be.
My metabolism, which I had always taken for grant was on its natural decline. If I was going to lose the weight I was going to have to do it the old fashion way.
I changed my eating habits. I ate a good breakfast, a normal lunch, and a small dinner no later than 6pm. That was the key. Nothing after 6pm.
I also got more active. I didn't have a workout program per day. I just took the stairs instead of the elevator. Or walked to the corner store. I lost all the weight. I am now back to my 135lb self and am loving it.
I would have never believed that a few simple life changes could do so much.
