Hey there. I am a 21 year old student, and I weigh 65 kg, and 5’4, so I am at the top end of “normal” weight on my BMI.
On the whole I’m happy with my shape, apart from my love handles and have a little bit of a belly, if I got rid of my love handles my shape would be a lot nicer!
I eat generally ok, no choc/crisps etc and usually have around 1500 calories a day, plus I try and do 30-40mins exercise a day mixing from different types of jumps, skipping rope – basically a mix of things that keep my heart rate up.
But I’m not sure how many calories I burn. I’ve been at it for a few weeks now, and I still have no change in my weight, if anything I feel bigger! I’m not sure if I’m eating too many calories/not enough so I feel like I am putting on weight?
I’m not sure what types of exercises would be most effective to lose weight or to target my belly? I know everyone bangs on about doing cardio, but is that enough to get rid of this? I can’t afford the gym being a student, and I’m not that into running so I’m a bit stuck as what is the best option and how long I should exercise for.
My aim is to get down to 60kg in 8 weeks, not sure how do-able it is! If you could help I’d very much appreciate it!
Thanks!
Jas
Answer from Rumi
Hi Jas, the right question is not “how many calories I burn?” but how many calories should I eat a day – calculate and eat 20% less calories.
There is calories to maintain your weight and when you eat less than this quantity you lose weight.
Usually 30 minutes workout burns no more than 200 calories which is less than calories in a piece of cake.
What I suggest to do hard, intense workouts like these:
Weight loss workout routine
Whole body workout routine
Cardio exercise routine
You should exercise 30 minutes per day, 5 times per week, but hard, intense workouts.
All the best,
Rumi

Hi Rumi Thanks for this
Just wondering would I get the best results by doing the fat burner and cardio together?
With the fat burning exercise where does it target areas of fat, its just my main areas are my stomach/love handles and I’m confused as to whether this exercise will help target this
Thanks

cara, exercise 5 times per week and eat good food, this must be your lifestyle. And you need to accept your body. I would like to have slimmer thighs too, but they are what they are, I do my best and accept the result
