in Diet tips

A good diet for teens contains all necessary substances for their growing bodies. Diets for teens have to be rich in Calcium, because of their growing bones; rich in protein because of the muscle development; rich in simple/slow carbohydrates because of the long lasting energy they gave; rich in vitamins and minerals because of sustaining healthy life.

Diets for teens

Every day a teen must eat one of the following food types:

  • Diary foods – skimmed milk and yogurt, feta cheese. Diary foods are rich in Calcium which is important supplement in diets for teens.
  • Baked meat source of protein (forget about fried meat) – steak from chicken breasts, veal, salmon, tuna, trout;
  • Salad – fresh salad from lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, celery, carrots, cabbage. Salad could be a mix of these or salad from stand alone vegetable.
  • Good (aka slow) carbohydrates – oat meal, whole grain bread, beans, lentils;
  • Good fat (aka unsaturated fat) – olive oil (put a spoon in the salad and you will beg for more lol), avocado, raw nuts and pumpkin seeds,
  • Nuts – 1-2 oz (25-50 grams) of raw nut are very good quick healthy snack during the main meals.
  • Fruits – while you are loosing weight eat a fruit or no more than two fruits per day because they are rich in carbohydrates. Once you achieve you desired weight, than you can eat as many fruits per day as you want. A fruit can be your healthy breakfast – it will give you energy because of the carbs in it and will help not to constipate during the diet.

An example of a good diet for teens

Breakfast (around 7-8 a.m.)
2 slices of whole grain bread, spread avocado over them, put a lettuce leave, add canned tuna in brine.

This breakfast contains:
Good carbs – whole grain bread
Good fats – avocado
Fibers and vitamins – lettuce
Protein – tuna

After breakfast (around 10 a.m.)
A pound of skimmed yogurt – plain type, no additives and no sweets. Yoghurt is rich in Calcium, good carbs and protein.

Lunch (around 1 p.m.)
A steak of chicken breast with big tomato and cucumber salad.

This lunch is your protein ration, tomato contains Lycopene (researches show that Lycopene has weight loss effect and recommend it for diets) and vitamins, cucumbers give you fiber and water.

After lunch (around 4 p.m.)
1-2 oz raw nuts – pumpkin seeds or walnuts or hazelnuts or almonds.

This meal is rich in vitamins, mineral and unsaturated fat.

Dinner (not later than 7 p.m.)
A steak of salmon with lettuce salad (don’t add sauce to the salad, because sauce are rich in hidden fat). Lettuce salad is very taste with a spoon of olive oil and juice from a lemon fruit (or vinegar).

You see, a good diet for teens is not to hold them hungry, but to give them good and nourishing foods that will give teens energy and will not store as fat around their bodies.

As teenagers grow they need more energy than an adult. It is in teen nature to be active, although in these days teenagers tend to spend more time in front of TV and the computer.

Teen weight loss tips

Did You Know?

You can lose 9 lbs every 11 days.

Read This Online Presentation How To Do It.

It is not natural teenagers to be fat. If a teen is fat it means there is something wrong in his/her life style. Teenagers spend more energy than adults because their bodies grow (it is energy consuming process) and because they are curious and are prone to participate in many activities.

In our days teenagers like to stuff food and to stay all day in a chair. None of these is natural. Teenagers have to eat little but often and have to participate in all possible activities. If you follow a good diet for teens and if you perform sport activity it is sure you will be lean, good looking and healthy teen.

Why not try one of these activities or all of them :)

  • Basketball
  • Dancing
  • Strength training at home, you need only a set of barbells
  • Walking in the park
  • Badminton
  • Treadmill walking/running, while you are watching your favorite TV program

It is guaranteed that you will lose weight if you follow a good diet for teens in combination with 1 hour activity 5 times per week. Make weight loss your life style, not starvation. It could happen if you wish to live healthy and happy life full of many nice moments with your friends.

I’ve been through a few websites trying to find something to help me…
When I started working at Maccas I visually gained A LOT of weight, (because I got 50% off food before AND after work :/). I took advantage of the fact that I could eat SO MUCH CRAP -junk food- and stay skinny. Then it all just came on at once and I was going out less because I hated my body and my food and attitude.
Sorry about the life story there, but I wanted to say thank-you because McFlurrys and Chicken-Bacon Delux burgers with added bacon (I even put chocolate sauce on top sometimes… I know, that’s disgusting), has now been fully replaced with heaps of salads and vegetables (which are literally my favourite now!! I know right!!!). Just the advice about the simple things I think has helped a lot, like changing white bread for whole grain, and not dressing salads with tonnes of sauce, but with a bit of olive oil.
I now play basketball, tennis twice a week and go on a 45 minute walk with my Dad up in the bushlands every week morning.
Im skinny again!

I’m 14 and well I’m not gonna dress it up but I’m a bit chubby and I get a load of comments about it and I was wondering (because I don’t like fish) what I could replace the fish with to keep it healthy. I’m a bit of a picky eater and every time I try and lose the weight, it comes back somehow.

Rumi June 26, 2011 at 7:03 am

Natasha, eat lean meat instead of fish.

Pili, you still can do it :)
